What Happened?

The Zotero icon does not show in the Dock after launching from the Menu. I can select 'Keep in Dock' from the Menu and it does show the icon, but the app is not "connected" somehow. This new icon in the Dock allows me to launch the app but not move to it when clicked (see the lack of the dot below the icon even though the app is opened):

This is the zotero.desktop file in /home/gabriel/.local/share/applications:

Exec=bash -c "$(dirname $(realpath $(echo %k | sed -e 's/^file:\\/\\///')))/zotero -url %U"
Icon=/opt/Zotero/icons/icon128.png
Type=Application
Terminal=false
Categories=Office;

This is very likely caused by a failure of the application to set the correct IDs. We only support installing applications via Flatpak which enforces apps to correctly identify themselves to the system.

It looks like Zotero is available from FlatHub. I recommend installing from there: https://flathub.org/apps/org.zotero.Zotero

Installing from Flathub results in a broken app that is not able to check for updates.

I guess I'll open an issue here https://github.com/flathub/org.zotero.Zotero about that
