Similar to how Photos has the image viewer behavior, I think Music's behavior when opening a random audio file could be improved. Right now, Music opens the entire library UI and shows the file playing as a track, but it's not possible to find that track anywhere in the library that's being shown. Instead, Music could supply a simpler "preview" UI that only played the one file and didn't mess about with the library.
Alternatively, we could ship an Audio app that's just a previewer, if that would be a more sane separation.

I would love this, when previewing little sound files I either need to open the folder in a separate audio app or deal with the finicky queue system and hope it doesn't keep playing some sounds on repeat and will actually play the one you wanted
