UnixMenu usage?

There was another issue in 2020 showing how the menu example doesn't work on linux, and the poster ended up citing something saying that menus aren't supported in unix. Is that true still? I can't seem to find what he cited.
It seems like I should be able to use UnixMenu and UnixMenuItem to create a unix menu, but after trying it, it isn't a drop in replacement for the standard one.
Is it fully implemented, and how would i use it?
Sorry if I'm misusing an issue for this, I didn't really know how else to ask.

Yeah, Menus are only provided as data on *nix currently. On Windows and macOS the system provides menus for a window, but that isn't the case under x11/Wayland. Adding a "emulated" menu is likely possible, but I feel that it's out of scope of the crate unless someone wants to create the support for it.
