Accurate mapping on localization mode

Hi all,
Thank you for your awesome work!
Maybe is a very naive question but am wondering if it is possible to load a prior map/mesh (perhaps as a submap) and use it for localization and perform at the same time online mapping (with loop closure).
In this way one would have an aligned updated map of the environment.
