Pig highlighting not working in Linux Mint 17.1 (Ubuntu 14.04)

Hi...I got several issues:

1. In comparing the file with other highlighting schemes in system folder, I thought that I need to change 'Source' to 'Sources' in line 23.
2. Gedit only recognized the Pig format when I put the highlighting xml in /usr/share/gtksourceview-2.0/language-specs/ so I copied the file to both directories 2.0, 3.0.
3. The 'Pig' highlighting option is now showing in View > Highlight Mode > Sources but has no effect whatsoever! No text is highlighted in any pig script I have.

It'd be great if you could replicate this and let me know how to fix it.

Hi - I'll try to answer your points in order.

1. I don't know if this is important or not. There are a number of different values in the different language files for section, and I don't know where this is used. I took this value based on the gtksourceview tutorial.
2. My setup is Ubuntu 14.04 with pig.lang in ~/.local/share/gtksourceview-3.0/language-specs/. Maybe you can try removing it from the other places and putting it there? I'm not sure why it would make a difference - maybe a permissions issue if the file is in /usr/share. Either way, as far as I know the gedit that comes with Ubuntu 14.04 should use the gtksourceview-3.0 file and location.
3. Can you try to launch gedit from the command line? If there are any errors in startup or when you switch to a Pig document, they should appear there.

I wish I could be more help, but I haven't experienced anything of what you describe. Hopefully when you launch gedit from command line we'll see an error message that will help to understand what is happening.
