Grayscale support on the Waveshare 7.5?

Hello,
I’m using a Waveshare 7.5-inch display (epd7in5V2). Everything works fine, except for the display: the screen is only monochrome (black and white) instead of showing two additional shades of grey.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Thanks.

Hi, I had a similar issue recently. My display is an epd7in3e, but I accidentally installed the driver for the epd7in3f. It worked, but only in monochrome/grayscale instead of full color

It might be worth double checking if the correct driver is being used for your specific panel. Trying a different driver version or reinstalling the correct one

Thanks for your reply; I’ve tried a few, but epd7in5V2 is correct anyway. The Waveshare demo works fine. The problem is rather that grayscale support isn’t implemented in inkypi.
I’ve tweaked waveshare_display.py for testing, and now the greyscale works. There’s still room for improvement with the dithering; it looks a bit odd compared to b/w.

I’ll be releasing this as a fork soon; perhaps someone can use it and optimise it.
