Feature Description

The current interface/display mode for all the colour pickers are quite small and the preview is difficult to gauge, which is an accessibility issue + it's not that easy to use, even for regular users. Slider-type interfaces should ideally be larger, imo.

Suggestions as follows:

(1) Consider using a different colour picker display type, with a larger preview e.g.

  • rectangle gradient (hue / saturation / light-dark)
  • or, wheel + slider gradient (hue / saturation + light-dark)

(2) Allow users to paste in a specific HEX code value (for the UI colour picker)

  • if there are no plans to change the colour picker interface now / ever, implementing this would be the best way to make it more user-friendly!

(3) Increase default size/zoom of eyedropper display

Flameshot config panel vs ColorSlurp colour tweaking panel and eyedropper

ColorSlurp just happens to be the colour picker utility I use, and its eyedropper tool is quite large but as you can see the default zoom is fairly high and the default view is large enough to see many pixels.

  • For users who want a more precise colour, this would be easier to use (rather than attempting to manually magnify and/or hold for more precise picking, which is a lot of keys to press and not the most accessible).
  • For users who don't require precision, anything in the general range of what they are after will do, so having a more detailed eyedropper would not be an issue
