Add Faroese Keyboard Layout with Custom Characters

Generally quite similar to the Danish layout but with some differences to support the Faroese characters

• Long pressing y should give the option to write ý
• Long pressing u should give the option to write ú
• Long pressing i should give the option to write í
• Long pressing o should give the option to write ó
• Long pressing a should give the option to write á
• Long pressing d should give the option to write ð (Note, the uppercase variant is: Ð, have seen many Android keyboards use the incorrect ð)
• Long pressing o should give the option to write ö

Complexity

No, it should be very similar to the Danish layout, but with some additional characters like the ð.

What if we give all letters their own keys? Like this:

We can avoid the need for long presses entirely, making typing faster.

@tenextractor, I think it's probably better to stick to convention to what other phone keyboards do with Faroese, so it is easier to switch as you can use the same muscle memory.

If straying from the convention is preferred, then why not follow the standard layout for physical keyboards with Faroese?

I could look into gathering screenshots of how other phone keyboards handle it if that's helpful :)

Gboard has this layout:

The blank key updates to show a letter with an acute (a -> á) whenever a non-acute letter is pressed. The current layout of FUTO Keyboard does not allow this layout.

It has an acute accent dead key which is roughly the same concept (but backwards) which is not possible right now in FUTO Keyboard either. 12 keys per row also makes this undesirable for phone keyboards.

SwifKey doesn't have a Faroese layout, it just has the English QWERTY layout with Faroese letters as long press options.

iOS

iOS has tap and hold for acute letters, but did give ð a space of its own.

A normal physical Faroese keyboard layout would look something like this, which is the same as the one you linked from kbdlayout.info :) :

It seems from this that both Google and Apple use a similar Faroese layout on their mobile OSes, though differing in how they do acute letters.

I propose this then:

with acute letters (and other common intl. variants of letters) being available via tap and hold, since FUTO does not have the ability to copy GBoard's unique method for creating acute letters.
