Custom HTML particle doesn't render

I'm trying to add this code:

$option = JFactory::getApplication()->input->getCmd('option'); $view = JFactory::getApplication()->input->getCmd('view'); if ($option == 'com\_content' && $view == 'category') { \<jdoc:include type="modules" name="showcase" /> }

translated in twig language:

{% set option = gantry.request.get('option') %}
{% set view = gantry.request.get('view') %}
{% if option == 'com_content' and view == 'category' %}
    {{ gantry.platform.displayModule('showcase') }}
{% endif %}

into a custom HTML particle in my layout template.

Unfortunately this statement is not working. It seems, that the system doesn't render this command. Any ideas why?
