The concept of community-maintained "matchup" datasets for Earth science has been on my mind for a while. A notable use-case is generation of "labelled data" for validation or machine learning that combines "ground-truth" with remote sensing data products. Here in the "geo-joinery" org, we are starting to design an architecture that relies entirely on GitHub features to bring this concept to life.
