How to update Homepage when installed from source

I installed using the source method on the website. I can not for the life of me figure out how to update to the latest version of Homepage. I am not at all familiar with pnpm or node. I used that setup to avoid adding another docker instance to maintain. I am running this as a lxc container on proxmox. Any help would be appreciated.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but perhaps if you can’t figure out how to update from source then docker might be a better deployment option for you?

If you cloned the git repo you would just need to update it and build it again, eg https://gethomepage.dev/en/installation/source/

This should update the installation fine:

systemctl stop homepage
git pull --force
pnpm install
pnpm build
systemctl start homepage

Every single piece of that screenshot looks like you havent installed homepage or any of the required dependencies in that VM (guessing its a VM).

• Theres no service for homepage
• That directory is not a git repo
• pnpm is not installed

So either you never set it up correctly or you somehow erased wherever it was, youre in the wrong directory, etc. There are many reasons that could be wrong.

As I said above, no offense meant, but if you are having this much trouble with a relatively simple deployment I would look at docker, its often easier to get started and maintain.

You need to use these commands inside the directory, where homepage is installed, for example /opt/homepage, not in your home directory.

But ofc, you need homepage already installed.
