Recently released to preview, BQ now offers setting job creation to optional which is expected to decrease latency.

I haven't tried this myself, but it looks like it may work if you upgrade your Google BigQuery Datasource to v1.6 or higher, and use the environment variable QUERY_PREVIEW_ENABLED=true on your Grafana instance.

I'll try it myself at some point and report back.
