The Situation
Martha Chen died three weeks ago when the zombie outbreak hit downtown Austin. Yesterday, the Shepherds successfully brought her back using their experimental resurrection process. She's conscious, she can speak, she remembers her life... but she also remembers dying. And eating people.
Now she's sitting in the settlement's medical tent, asking the same question over and over: "What am I?"
The Choice
Martha represents our first successful post-zombie conversion in the story. How we handle her case will set the precedent for hundreds of others. Each faction has a different vision for her future:
1️⃣ MERCY KILLERS 🔴
"Martha, you're suffering. You remember the hunger, the horror of what you did. Let us end this gently. Death is kinder than carrying those memories."
Their approach: Compassionate euthanasia - end her suffering before it gets worse.
2️⃣ SHEPHERDS 🟢
"Martha, you're proof resurrection works! Yes, you came back changed, but you came back. We'll help you adapt, find purpose in this new existence."
Their approach: Integration and acceptance - help her find meaning as a post-zombie.
3️⃣ HOPEFUL 🔵
"Martha, we know you're scared. Let us study your case, perfect the process. Maybe we can bring back your daughter too, but better this time."
Their approach: Research subject - use her case to improve resurrection for others.
4️⃣ PURE ⚫
"Martha Chen died three weeks ago. Whatever you are now isn't human. You're a contamination risk and a psychological weapon. The settlement would be safer without you."
Their approach: Exile or elimination - she's no longer human and is dangerous.
