I haven't been able to get suggestions out of hfst-ospell for some time.

It is able to tell whether a word is OOV or not, but it says that it's "Unable to correct" such forms.

apertium-kaz$ echo "білемін" | hfst-ospell -S -n 10 kaz.zhfst
"білемін" is in the lexicon...
$ echo "билемін" | hfst-ospell -S -n 10 kaz.zhfst
"билемін" is NOT in the lexicon:
Unable to correct "билемін"!

The same is true of voikkospell:

$ echo "қазақша билмеймін" | tr ' ' '\n' | voikkospell -d kk -s
C: қазақша
W: билмеймін

Output of this exact command having suggestions was documented a number of years ago.
