User Request: Create a lightweight data discovery portal/catalog for MBON datasets

BOEM, MBON projects, RA directors, RA DMAC leads, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission

What is being requested?

• A lightweight data discovery portal which has all the MBON data curated in one place.
• Without the need for analytical and graphing capability.
• A place where we can see, find, explore, and use these data
• Some options include:
  • Leverage existing work from ODIS on using schema.org to expose structured data. https://book.odis.org/indexing/index.html

    • As such, ODIS will not be a new portal or centralized system, but will provide a collaborative solution to interlink distributed systems for common goals.

  • Leverage work with ESRI Hub Premium and the NOAA GeoPlatform: https://noaa.maps.arcgis.com/home/index.html

How would this request improve your current workflow?

• reduces the difficulty in tracking down data from MBON projects.
• Less overhead management of actual data bits and bytes like in the existing MBON Data Portal
• Leverages the existing resources that the projects are already using (ERDDAP, EDI, DataOne, etc.)
