I have been thinking about how to give the best and most useful feedback in order for Niels and other contributors to use it.
Would it be possible to build a test suite of known to work media files that are free and not copyrighted, that we can use to test our setups and use for reference when something is not working, or is supposed to work.
Right now people provide feedback based on questionable media files, that they are unable to share or name due to either copyright or other legal reasons.
I think that it would make sense, and would make for better quality feedback.
I tried to compile a number of media files with various Dolby and DTS formats to use for test, but for some reason some of them works when a movie with the same format doesn't. While both work perfectly in web and on LG Webos client. It could be related to an old Android OS version on my TV, but before buying a new TV or media player, it would be nice to be able to test up against some known to work files.
When reading through the Issues to see if it is the same problem as others had reported, it's hard to determine, since it could be various things, or combinations of formats.. DoVi/HDR and Dolby Atmos, and various subtitles, which can confuse the subject even more.
I have also gone through the source code, and found that I'm not experienced enough in Java and kotlin and whatnot to really do much work, without using a lot of time to get accustomed with it.
