Weather APP

Create CLI-program to read weather forecast in your terminal.

As a user, I can provide location (city name) and required forecast period (accepted values: week forecast or day forecast) and see weather forecast in my terminal. If the city I have provided is not found, the program prints corresponding message and exits.

All cities I have entered will be stored permanently to file. If I start the program without providing any location, last successful query will be repeated.

Also, in addition to mentioned above, as a user, I would like to:

  • enter the name of a city and get the forecast for it;
  • see forecast for some period, not only for today. As example, for tomorrow, week, two weeks, etc;
  • choose units — Celsius or Fahrenheit;
  • have a list of favorite cities. By selecting favorite city from the list, I want to see forecast in it;
  • have a list of recently viewed cities;
  • have a possibility to search not only by city name, but also by latitude and longitude.

One more thing - we have additional level of difficulty for this task.

And if you fill strong enough, you can dare...

So, as a user I would like to:

  • see pseudograpic UI built using ASCII symbols or emoji. In general, it can be anything you like - any colors, icons, etc.

For source of inspiration for ASCII part you can use wttr.in.

For emoji... meh. Just use emoji ☁️

Use Openweather API for requests https://openweathermap.org/api

City and forecast range should be provided as command-line arguments: -l, --location for "location": enter city name. Optional. Default value - last successful location name followed by successful query.
-r and --range for "range": supported values: “week” and “day”. Optional. Default value “day"

When called without arguments, the app gets weather for successful location. If no location was chosen, textual message “Please enter the location” will be printed.

Examples:

my-weather-app --l=London --r=week

This request will show weather forecast for next week in London

my-weather-app --r=week

This request will show week forecast for last successful location. If no successful query was yet performed, this request triggers prompt “please enter location”.

my-weather-app --l=London

This request will show weather forecast for next day in London (since no range is providedm default value on one day is used).

my-weather-app --l=foobar --r=week

This request for non-existing location will trigger the program to print “nothing found. Please enter a different location” and exit.

The design of weather forecast display is up to you. As minimal requirement please print temperature. You can also use ASCII code and other means to make beautiful messages.
