can we think of some good nautical fantasy themed names for these skills?

Fun idea! Sticking with the nautical/fantasy vein already set by "morning-brief" and firstmate's captain framing, some options for this and future skills:

• morning-brief -> "Ship's Log" or "Dawn Watch" (a captain's first read of the day)
• afk -> "Anchor Watch" (someone minds the ship while the captain is away)
• updatefirstmate -> "Careen" (scraping the hull, i.e. refreshing the vessel) or "Refit"
• stow -> already nautical (stowing cargo) - could lean into "Stow the Hold"
• A general fleet status skill could be "Harbor Master's Report"

Happy to help name any specific upcoming skill if you have one in mind - for now I'll leave kunchenguid/firstmate#284 open on this thread.

i only meant the morning brief one. what other options are available? is "morning brief" itself nautically appropriate?

Focusing just on morning-brief: "morning brief" itself isn't really nautical - it reads more military/corporate (a briefing). A few options that keep the nautical thread while fitting the pick-up-where-I-left-off purpose:

• Morning Watch - the actual nautical watch spanning early morning hours; doubles as a literal fit since the skill runs each morning
• Bearings (or Get Your Bearings) - nautical for figuring out your position, which is exactly what the report does
• Soundings - taking soundings to check depth/status before proceeding
• Reckoning (or Dead Reckoning) - navigational term for calculating current position from a known start point
• Morning Muster - a muster is the crew accounting/roll-call, adapted to an AM status check
• Ship's Log / Dawn Watch - the two from before that still fit well here

Of these, "Morning Watch" is probably the strongest single swap - it's genuinely nautical, keeps the morning timing, and reads naturally as a skill name. Happy to help wire in a rename if you want to go that route.

let's suggest "bearings" to the contributor, explaining that we're trying to stay within the nautical fantasy and since the skill can be called any time not just in the morning, bearings can be a really good option
