blt_hip is the real target under the alias target blt::hip. There are cases where you can't refer to the alias target but the real target will always be there.

Did you hit an error or warning?

Note: the other targets (mpi, cuda, openmp, etc.) in that file are pre-us knowing better and will be renamed in the breaking change.

When updating there were several cases I had to switch to use blt::hip b/c blt_hip was not sufficient.

I had an outstanding change in blt itself here that I found. I will explore more and get to the bottom of it.

Are you possibly mixing and matching BLT versions in upstream projects?
