LMS installer is moving all the downloaded models from the selected directory to the system temp folder, which causes the update to fail "if" there is not that much space on the system disk. The issue occurs when the selected models folder is inside the LMS folder.
The app should not move such massive data on the system disk blindly and should be able to update without clearing all the content inside it's folder that way

I don't think we ever move the downloaded models. This might be a bug. Can you detail what you did and what did you observe?

I've recorded a video of described issue.

  1. Have a models folder inside of the lms folder.
  2. Reinstall lms.
  3. Your models folder are moved to system disk during installation.
  4. Your models folder are just wiped, it does not move back after installation

Ah, I see. You have set the custom models location inside LM Studio installation folder. The issue you observed is probably caused by some internal installer logic. If you set the models folder somewhere else, this won't happen.
