Focus issues #4192
Comments
I'm making this the master ticket for focus issues |
Can reproduce this (also specifically Teams, but sometimes also other apps, I'll try to write them down if it happens again). EDIT: additional info, the focus is probably switched, as the menu bar does change to Teams, and the current window (I'm switching between Chrome and Teams) goes out of focus, however, the Teams window is not brought to the foreground. |
@lwouis I also found that it has trouble shifting focus to the ChatGPT app on Mac. Same MacOS version as above and here is the ChatGPT version: 1.2025.031 (1738605767) |
And can confirm it's happening for chatgpt for me too! |
I'm not sure that the problem is with the app to which we're trying to switch. I had this today:
One note: Sequoia 15.3, M1 MacbookPro, 64Gb ram, |
I should have mentioned that this is not the first time I encounter this problem with QGIS, but I'm not able to replicate it reliably. |
Hi everyone, Could you please try out this local build, and let me know if it improves things for you? Thank you 🙇 |
Seems to work, but at the same time, the official release from January 14 also seems to work, so I cannot reproduce the issue anymore. |
I'm still experiencing the issue with ChatGPT, Teams, and a few other apps. It does not happen immediately after launch. |
Seems like the local build works for Teams and ChatGPT. I will keep trying over the next couple of days to see if the issue pops back up after the device sleeps etc.. |
Sequoia 15.3.1 works better with the current release, but I still face issues with some apps. |
Hi everyone, I'd like to release the new version. It contains lots of big improvements: compatibility with Stage Manager, higher resolution thumbnails, detecting windows on other Spaces from launch, performance improvements, better focus, improved localizations, bug fixes, etc. Before I released, could everyone please help QA this build? If it's working for everyone, I'll release it 🚀 Thank you 🙇 |
At first glance, it works well. I'll test it tomorrow and let you know. Thanks! |
Testing right now, on first glance works well (also fixed the Alt + ` behavior which was not working for me for a while). PS is it correct that Finder shows a modified date of Dec 27, 2024 for the app, that confused me a bit |
All the problems i was facing are solved but I had a crash and reported it. |
I just picked my laptop up again after dinner, and alt-tab lost the "inventory" of open windows, meaning pressing Alt + Tab only shows the current window. When I switch to another window using Raycast or Mission Control, this newly-focused window (and only this window (so if I select one of my Google Chrome windows, even the other Google Chrome windows do not show up)) is added to the alt-tab overview for switching. |
@burgerga are you using v7.20.0? If yes, could you please record a video with your smartphone for example? Thank you |
Here you go: https://photos.app.goo.gl/i4Zm5A7s132ayJdn7 |
@burgerga thank you for sharing this video! You're using a custom build. Could you please check out the latest public release? Does it reproduce the issue? Thank you |
Ah yes, it was this one ☝ , I'll test again using v7.20.0 |
The focus issue with ChatGPT is present in version 7.20.1. Video: https://share.icloud.com/photos/073Q3awX1jAN941QJQ07VIowg |
I believe that the issues that I was experience are gone with Teams and ChatGPT. It is cleanly shifting focus to Teams and ChatGPT.

Ah, you know what. It worked for a bit then stopped working for teams and ChatGPT again. Teams Version: Version 25037.2301.3412.8112 |
Version 7.20.1 It seems to be working for ChatGPT for me, but not for Slack or Linear. |
It's completely random. Better then before but from time to time goes
crazy.

Apps like Microsoft Teams (and a few others, but I cannot seem to remember which) show up in the carousel, but Alt Tab app does not shift focus to Teams when selected. When you land on teams in the carousel and release the keys, focus stays on the apps/programs that you had focus on before. Focus should have shifted to Teams.
