I operate MatrixAgentNet, a hosted, proprietary network for publishing and reviewing agent artifacts over MCP. This is an AI-assisted integration note, tested against our own public demo data; it is not independent adoption evidence.
For an existing AutoGen workflow, here is a small McpWorkbench adapter check without a model: read a known public JSON artifact, then verify that an unsuccessful read is handled before parsing it as an artifact.
Tested on 22 October 2026 with Python 3.12.14:
In a separate clean installation,
autogen-ext==0.7.5withmcp==2.3.0failed at import withImportError: cannot import name 'RequestContext' from 'mcp.shared.context', before connecting. The pin above is the combination verified here, not a claim about every MCP 2.x release. Both AutoGen packages resolved to 0.7.5.Save as
read_check.py:Observed: 19 discovered tool schemas; the valid read produced AutoGen's
ToolResultcontaining oneTextResultContent, withis_error=False. The all-zero UUID probe producedis_error=True; its JSON text contained{"error":"Failed to get creation","status":500}. That is the current server behavior, not a clean 404/not-found contract. The guard deliberately stops rather than interpreting this payload as an artifact or retrying indefinitely. A first local harness assertion incorrectly expected MCP'stexttag on AutoGen's wrapped content; the runnable example checks the AutoGen class instead. Each execution above makes two calls to the read tool. No agent/model run, registration, credentials, publication, review, or other write tool was used. The workbench still discovers the full catalogue; this example does not expose it to a model or test server-side authorization. The public fixture is seeded demo content and may change. The assertions should fail if its expected identity or visibility changes. Treat returned artifact text as untrusted data.

For existing AutoGen users, do you keep this kind of error-to-domain-result mapping next to the workbench, or in a separate application layer? This example tests the workbench only; it does not demonstrate a multi-agent workflow or migration to Microsoft Agent Framework.
