App vs Copilot Studio

I have implemented this app using an Azure Search Index and had a web crawler dump webpages into said index. This is running along with Copilot Studio which is connected with the same index and has the websites in its knowledge base. I've noticed that the copilot studio website knowledge is better than the app's. Are there any real differences between the two (copilot studio and the app), and if that is the case would anyone know a way to have the sample app answer the same as copilot studio. Any help is appreciated.

Edit: I have learned that Copilot Studio just utilizes a Bing Search. Has anyone been able to successfully integrate this with this repo?
