Add support for SQL Agent like there is in Azure Data Studio #20150

Thanks for raising this idea and for the discussion around SQL Agent support in VS Code. After reviewing this request and looking at both community feedback and usage data from Azure Data Studio, we’ve decided not to move forward with SQL Agent support in the MSSQL extension for VS Code. While SQL Agent was available in Azure Data Studio, adoption of that feature was relatively low, and this idea has also seen limited engagement from the community since it was opened. Given the scope and ongoing investment required to support SQL Agent scenarios, we’ve made the difficult decision to focus our efforts on areas that align more closely with the core developer workflows we see the majority of users relying on in VS Code. At this time, SQL Agent remains best supported via SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), particularly for operational and administrative workflows. Our focus in VS Code continues to be on schema management, query development, data workflows, and improving the developer experience across platforms. Thanks again for taking the time to share the idea and for engaging with us constructively. |

People didn't use it in ADS because it never worked, not because we don't need this feature. It's not just for Macs, it's for everyone. We're carrying around a bulky old Visual Studio installation for nothing more than basic task scheduling. It's really very wasteful of resources and almost completely nullifies the benefits of VS Code; light footprint and portability. |

Hey team! Since Azure Data Studio is retiring on February 28, 2026 and that it's recommended that we use Visual Studio Code, it would be great to have SQL Agent imported into VS Code.
This is something that was implemented in Azure Data Studio that VS Code currently doesn't support.
This helps a lot those who are leveraging MS SQL server in their infrastructure and want to manage from a MAC OS. Also since this feature already exists in Azure Data Studio, I would hope that the cloning it into the VS Code project would be straight forward.
Many thanks!
