For a PoC of remote (browser) control of a Tauri app, I found “tauri-remote-ui”: https://github.com/DraviaVemal/tauri-remote-ui.

It serves the same frontend in a normal browser and bridges Tauri’s invoke and event/listen over WebSocket (not pixel/desktop streaming).
Handy for E2E/remote demos, though it’s quite new.
Related: the official “tauri-invoke-http” proxies invoke over HTTP but does not cover listen/events, so you’d still need a WS/SSE bridge for push events: https://github.com/tauri-apps/tauri-invoke-http

In my opinion:
Right now, a local‑only GUI doesn’t meaningfully differentiate from the official Codex VS Code extension. At the same time, the official Codex Web app feels limited (no MCP) and not great for day‑to‑day work.

There’s demand to drive the full, feature‑rich native codex CLI from phones/tablets/remote browsers—a server–client mode. This would unlock mobile and multi‑device workflows, avoid editor lock‑in, and keep all the powerful CLI capabilities (MCP, git diff, approvals, etc.).

I’ll run a quick GitHub repo search for a Codex CLI web UI project, haha.

I just use tauri-remote-ui to completed this. And this idea is great to control from Phone, Do you think we should merge this feature to the main branch.

git submodule update --init

You can control the PC via new branch feat/remote-access

If You don't want to use Github login you can run one of these commands

1. build

NODE_ENV=development bun Tauri build --bundles app
NODE_ENV=development bun Tauri build

2. start the app
3. start remote server

• go the settings page
• click remote access
• start server
• use pc, tablet or phone, then go to browser url http://localhost:7420 or http://{ip}
• start chat
