I second that the program should use different default perspective, not just showing model flat, from one side. The default camera angle in thingiverse and Cura 3D seems to be great. There's a difference between 3D and CAD software, CAD uses the Z as "up", while in visual 3D software it's usually the Y that represents height, and Z represents depth. Something to consider 🤔
It appears the default view after an STL is loaded is to look at the bottom of the model (up the Z axis):
Whereas it'd be nice to see the camera position looking down the Y axis:
