If the app is minimized or you open a browser and put it in the background, the call pauses and does not continue.

It should be minimizable, no matter if video call,...

Is the picture in picture (PiP) feature enabled?
You can find it like described here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7552722?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid#zippy=%2Cturning-picture-in-picture-off

That being said, the behavior has to be improved so it also works without PiP mode.
