Is SeedVR2 good for restoring old footage? #554

I'm questioning whether or not SeedVR2 is good for restoring footage. I was using SeedVR2 to restore some old basketball clips of Ben Wallace, and it did a pretty bad job. Am I doing something wrong? Or is SeedVR2 just not good for this. I usually use Topaz Starlight Mini for stuff like this, but I want to test SeedVR2 because sources told me it was better. Here the footage I used. One of the clips was put through SeedVR2 and one is the original. Is it really not that good for trying to restore old footage like this or am I doing something wrong? copy_D107947B-0EF1-4A3F-9B98-657EC75DE8ED.mp4ComfyUI_00003_.mp4 |

AI restore models actually struggle with extremely fast-paced scenes, and Topaz doesn't produce successful results either. I downscaled the video by 50% because I have 16 GB of VRAM, then upscaled it from 240p to 1080p. As a final step, I increased the frame rate to 60 fps, and it looked smoother.
This is the workflow I used:
