Default Snippets not happening

Hi, sorry, tried to leave a comment on the tutorial webpage but it wouldn't let me.

I have some defaultSnippets but I cannot get them to insert inside [] array brackets, Ctrl-Space does nothing, nor Cmd-Space (I’m on a mac) Do you have any suggestions, I’ve looked in Keyboard settings, and I think perhaps my only option is to create some standard snippets and insert them, but that is not as validating as I had hoped.

With some more playing, I have found that as I type the : after the key, I get the valid snippet menu.
