Hey everyone!

It’s been a few weeks since we last launched on Hacker News, and I’m excited to update you on our progress as we build out Onlook Studio.

Also, we’re launching on Product Hunt pretty soon, so please follow our launch here.

Now, on to the good stuff...

New Features

The Onlook Desktop App

• Onlook is now packaged as a super easy to install .dmg file – no command line needed!
• Everything in the app runs locally, and we automatically push updates to the experience, so once you’re set up you’re good to go forever!

Layers

• You can now see the full list of elements rendered on the page. To make it easy to understand, you’ll see they’re also named, and indicated with icons for the type of layer they are.
• This brings Onlook's editor experience up to par with other editors and we’re super excited to use layers as the foundation for so many other great features!

Responsive editing window (Shoutout to @nicklammo for contributing!)

• You can now resize your window with handles on the right, bottom, and lower-right corner of the window. This means you can develop and test how things look on different screen-sizes in real time!

Undo / Redo (Thanks to @bkrmendy for carrying this!)

• Now you can CMD+Z your edits, just like you’d expect with an editor.
• Special thanks to @bkrmendy for building out the edit history and linking up the feature to the UI.

Multi-select

• When you select one component, we want you to be able to select all components so you have a better sense of how your change will affect other instances. This makes it much easier to communicate how things are connected in your workspace.

Action mode

• At the top of the app you’ll see two modes — Design and Action. In Action mode, you can interact with elements without worrying that you’ll accidently change a property or (eventually) accidently move it.

Welcome to Onlook

• A new onboarding screen including helpful links and an email sign-up for updates. Thank you to everyone who signed up so far!

Core Alpha Users

• We’re looking to recruit our first core regular users. The only two requirements are that you’re actively working on a project, and that you will actively provide feedback to us. Please reach out to [email protected] or comment below if you’re interested in participating!
