Cannot pip install

I've been trying to install this tool but it keeps running into an error. It says "Gettin grequirements to build wheel did not run successfully", and that it is because "setuptools-scm was unable to detect versioni for {path to twixtools-master}". I saw that setuptools-scm has issues with this type of error but none that are similar enough (with solutions) to help me..also I'm not familiar with using these things at all, so am calling out for help here!

Just adding that I managed to install twixtools, not through the pip install . though. When I installed RecoTwix that uses twixtools, it managed to install properly without any errors.

Does 'pip install twixtools' work? This will pull twixtools directly from its pypi.org repository. I'm not familiar with "RecoTwix", so I don't know which version of twixtools this will install.

Regarding the error you noticed, I can't reproduce it. I'm guessing it has to do with the python (or setuptools) version you're using.
