I might have a flaky sd card: it's a cheap Amazon Basics 64GB (which I was hoping to be able to use for an un-demanding application like this, because I don't completely trust it, although I was able to boot a Raspberry Pi with it a while back). Often after rebooting with the card installed, Meck hangs on the Loading... screen and never gets further. But if I pull out the sd card, boot once, then insert the SD card and reset, it can be ok sometimes. I think the UI should be designed to fail gracefully in this case: show a warning but then keep going without it, and retry later. But maybe the reason why it is unhappy with this card also needs troubleshooting. I'm not sure if it's the card's fault or not.
Why do you say 32GB or bigger? It's not storing that much data.
