Maintenance update

[AlbaHerrerias]

This PR includes the following changes

1. Fix broken tests. Now all the following commands work:

npm run test-node
npm run coverage

# browser tests
npm run dev-server
npm run test-browser-playwright

2. Update and deprecate as much dependencies as possible within the timeframe. Some further work needs to be done in:

• chai and chai-as-promised are now on ESM
• ndjson, through2, memorystream and random-document-stream need investigation and through testing
