IMHO it is a good idea to have students work on this Team app. Firstly I believe that an app like this should be built by whom who use it, which well.. students, of-course!. Secondly, the app architecture is simple and suitable for beginners, plus we practice all the good things like TDD, CI testing, etc. Here are few ideas that I would like to throw in for this year:

  • Refactoring - get rid of evil callbacks in AR model, increase test coverages
  • Implement a multi-tenant blog app, I think we should centralize blogging
  • Implement program logger - a good tool to keep up what the girls are up to
  • Tweets aggregation page
  • TODO or Goals/Objects checklist page?

That's all for now.

I like this idea, it's a "real" app and it's being used actively.

We'd need to be able to make adjustments fairly quickly though, so we can quickly add a feature that we need.

Over time we'd like this app to grow into a "mini social platform" which makes it easier for students to meet potential coaches, projects and workspaces. Maybe that would make a good candidate for this proposal, too.

@joneslee85 ...Hi Sir.I have a team based in India .Our coach will be @abishekk92 and my team mate is @rahihoha. We are beginners in rails framework but we had previously worked on web applications on Groovy on Grails using PostgreSQL. I had read some of the details of your proposal and found it interesting as it would prove to be a great help in increasing simplicity for beginners like us to use platforms like this. It would be a great opportunity for us if you provide us with a chance of working with you under your guidance. Hoping to get a positive feedback.

Hey! Glad u two have found a coach. I'm happy to be your mentor. I need you two to go through the application process, once the application is approved. I'll have a list of objectives for your team.

@prakriti17 TIP: coach that stays in the same city and you two could meet on daily basis would be the key

@joneslee85 I wanted to know about the application. There is a question that says, "What project(s) are you planning to work on? "
So do we need to provide the same proposal as given above or do we have to give the proper project outline with the timeline of the project and issues to be resolved.

Very good questions, at the moment I have few ideas:

  • Increase test coverages
  • Permission ACL
  • Clean up / refactoring
  • UI responsive optimisation
  • Integration with GitHub repo to keep track of issues
  • Diary/Journal/Blog integration
  • implementing requested features / fixing bugs

It would be adhoc of objectives and each of you could tackle them at your own pace.

I'd love to see what you might be interested to achieve in this program
