Parsing issue with eslint-plugin-import and @react-native/eslint-config

Steps to reproduce

1. create application with @react-native-community/cli
2. setup basic eslint with additional eslint-plugin-import
3. Check for errors

@sriadimanav I recently fixed this issue. In my case, the problem was caused by the following ESLint rule:

"import/no-cycle": ["warn", { "maxDepth": 1 }]

This resulted in a long list of repeated errors like this:

Error while parsing /.../node_modules/react-native/index.js Line 15, column 29: ';' expected. parseForESLint from parser context.languageOptions.parser is invalid and will just be ignored

I couldn't understand why ESLint was checking node_modules, since I had explicitly ignored it in all my configurations.

The fix was simple: I added "ignoreExternal": true to the import/no-cycle rule.
Now my ESLint configuration looks like this, and the issue is gone:

"import/no-cycle": ["warn", { "maxDepth": 1, "ignoreExternal": true }]

I recommend checking all your ESLint rules and temporarily commenting out any that use the eslint-plugin-import plugin. Some of these rules might be causing the issue, and tweaking their settings could resolve it.
