It can still be associated with Dennis Ritchie if people care to read about the origins, but it can also carry the connotations of 'rich' (in features, in expressiveness, in wealth) and be happily divorced from the legacy of the man.

Sure Python was named after Monty Python, but its icon is a snake and I never really think of Monty Python just because I'm programming in Python.
