Option to disable telemetry from robot

The robot during execution seem to communicate with the telemetry server by sending using PUT method messages to [telemetry.robocorp.com]

Log entry of agent tells that:

Error [http.Do]: Put "https://telemetry.robocorp.com/metric-v1/rcc.user/1736967718423586898/e2833a8f-bd00-d804-2a3d-955c19686b0a/rcc.cli.run/v16.5.0": context deadline exceeded (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)

Can you please get back with the option to disable telemetry? Passing "--variable telemetry-enabled:false" while running the rcc command doesn't seem to work. Thanks

Good news - I maintain a community fork of RCC where telemetry is disabled by default.

The Simple Fix: Use My Fork

Download the latest release: github.com/joshyorko/rcc/releases/latest

In my fork, the default settings.yaml has telemetry and issues endpoints commented out:

endpoints:
  telemetry: # disabled by default
  issues: # disabled by default

No configuration needed - just download and run.

If You Want to Stay on Upstream RCC

Here are all the ways to disable telemetry:

Option 1: Environment Variables (quickest)

export RCC_ENDPOINT_TELEMETRY=""
export RCC_ENDPOINT_ISSUES=""

Set these BEFORE running rcc, not in robot.yaml (those run too late).

Option 2: settings.yaml (permanent)

Create $ROBOCORP_HOME/settings.yaml:

endpoints:
  telemetry:   # leave empty
  issues:      # leave empty

Or generate a template and edit it:

rcc configure settings --defaults > $ROBOCORP_HOME/settings.yaml
# Then edit to blank out telemetry/issues

Option 3: Profile System (switchable)

# Create a no-telemetry profile
cat > profile_private.yaml << 'EOF'
name: private
description: "No telemetry profile"
settings:
  endpoints:
    telemetry: ""
    issues: ""
EOF

# Import and activate
rcc configure import --filename profile_private.yaml --switch

Why --variable telemetry-enabled:false Doesn't Work

That flag is for Robot Framework variables, not RCC configuration. RCC telemetry is controlled at a different layer - through endpoints configuration, not robot variables.
