There is a static method of Rdict: it returns a list of existing column families: Rdict.list_cf("test"), which returns ['default'].

another way is to load Options.

[opt, columns] = r.Options.load_latest("test")
print(columns)

# prints:
# {'default': <builtins.Options object at 0x102e61cf0>}

which gives a dictionary where the keys are column names.

Say you've use "./test" as the directory, and you want to test whether "account" exists. You do this:

if "account" in Rdict.list_cf("./test"):
    # `account` cf exists
    pass
else:
    # create `account` cf
    pass

This is key-value store, though. Not a relational-db.
