This doesn't happen if the engine is set to Google Translate, but generally google gives less accurate translations than DeepL. I tried with translation both from English to Japanese, and from Japanese to English.

Do you have an extension that modifies cookies or an adblocker? perhaps a proxy that's misbehaving?
HTTP error 405, also called "Method Not Allowed", only shows up if the server you're visiting to receives a malformed request or unknown request. It could also be that DeepL has temporarily blocked your IP by refusing to process your request from your IP.

Tried it on two separate browsers, the specific URL that the bot uses doesn't work on either of the browsers, and I don't have any adblockers installed on either.
Other DeepL webpages work fine for me, I can visit the translator at https://www.deepl.com/en/translator just fine, but it's probably just that specific webpage is meant to interface with bots - I haven't looked into this project's code at all, so I have no idea what's going on under the hood and why that specific webpage is the one the bot uses to get translations from.

I've also tried using your fork of this project, but that doesn't fix the problem.

DeepL might have changed something which broke the bot, I'll try to look into it. The official documentation was behind a paywall back then, so I'll probably have a hard time.

It seems like the unofficial library that we've been using, deepl-translator, has completely stopped working. There exists an official one for python, but a code overhaul is needed. Everyone also needs to avail the free API code now, which has the same limit of 500,000 characters.

I think I understand the problem now. I've read through the deepl-translate project issues and found how the url https://www2.deepl.com/jsonrpc produces error 429. It has a built-in way to prevent people from using the free translate without an account by adding a captcha at that endpoint, it is something that isn't solvable in python.
