Date: December 2007 Format: Attack-Defense
The 2007 iCTF's theme was "The Copyright Mafia" — a group that was a mix between organized crime and big corporation-type copyright enforcement practices.
Teams played as rival factions within this criminal-corporate hybrid,
attacking and defending the Mafia's extortion, enforcement, and intimidation
infrastructure. The competition had explicit game-theory elements: the
mafia2007Scripts/ archive includes bot scripts for petition (pleading
for mercy), amends (making reparations), and shakedown (extorting
rivals) — suggesting that teams could take these actions against each other
as part of the competition mechanics, not just exploit services.
