Bug description

iOS Accessibility settings have no effect on animated gifs or Stickers in Signal chats.

Steps to reproduce

  • From iOS, go to Settings > Accessibility > Motion
  • Toggle off Auto-Play Animated Images.
  • From Settings > Accessibility > Per-App Settings, add Signal and ensure Auto-Play Animated Images is also toggled off
  • View an animated GIF or Sticker in a Signal chat.

Actual result: The image animation runs continuously.

Expected result: The image animation does not run automatically and may be stopped or started manually. (Compare behavior in, e.g., iMessages)

Device info

Device: iPhone 13 Mini

iOS version: 18.1.1

Signal version: 7.42.1 (569)

Signal seems to be having some issues respecting some iOS settings. I've disabled the "Sticker" options in the iOS keyboard settings and Signal is the only app that's still showing the stickers tab when opening the emoji keyboard.
