Asset Acceptance for assets already assigned to users some time ago

We have been using Snipe IT for some time. Initially, we just simply assign the assets to users without enabling the "Asset Accpetance". However, we are planning to enable this feature soon. May I know what's the best way to handle the assets already assigned to users instead of doing the checkin/checkout for triggering the asset acceptance? Per testing, there's no option to generate the acceptance emails for assets assigned prior to enbling the asset acceptance.
