Thanks for reporting. This seems to be an issue on some Windows machines. I've seen it once with Windows 7, but that is long time ago. Which Windows version are you using?

Windows 10 with latest updates

Your screenshot shows v0.1.0-alpha3, did you also try it with the latest v0.1.0-alpha4?

@erikkaashoek Maybe you've just missed it, but you used an outdated version and I asked if the problem still appears if you use the current release.

When starting the distribution executable of version V0.1.0.-alpha4 the program is started but exits immediately.
What is it supposed to do?

That's strange. I just tested it on Linux with Wine and it starts as expected. Does it show any error messages when run from the command line?

When run from the command line it immediately exits without any messages
I check with the virus scanner but no messages about programs block

I did some quick test with booting into Windows. Both versions work for me, but I'm still on Windows 10 in my dual boot setup.

Do you have the Rust toolchain installed? Then you could try to compile it from source and check if that makes any difference.

I'm also on windows 10
No Rust toolchain installed and I do not plan to do so.
I can just read the text. good enough for now.

I added a cross-compiled version https://github.com/sourcebox/dfu-buddy/releases/download/v0.1.0-alpha4/dfu-buddy-0.1.0-alpha.4-x64_64-windows-gnu.exe to the releases. Can you please check if that makes any difference?

Windows refuses to let me download the windows-gnu.exe

I already did disable virus scanning when downloading. It is the actual exe that seems to have something matching a virus signature.
