Hi there, thanks for the feedback! I certainly understand where you're coming from with regards to hovering panels. I went in that direction because I have a general preference for non-cluttered UI. I generally don't want to see anything until I need it. However, I totally understand having a preference against this. Adding an option so that these sections are always visible and don't overlap content should be pretty straightforward. It's something I can add in v0.10.x. As for the note search, it's definitely awkward to have a whole drop-down bar with nothing in it but search. Under the hood, the same system that builds out the controls for folders is handling the note's search & annotation feature. I wanted there to be consistency here so that you can always go to the top of a pane (representing a note/folder/query/etc) to access the controls for that pane. In the future, there will be more note-specific elements in play (including additional lenses), and they will live in the same top bar. |

There are 2 places in TN that show popup elements as far as I know if (meaning that I notice it). That is the popup where you can choose a lens and how to sort it. It shows when hovering on top of the page when on a folder.
The second one is when you use the in-place search.
I really, really dislike elements on a page that dynamically, on hover, change the presentation or that hide/show/move some part of my screen that I need to refocus. Specially with the hoover function. It is the first thing I disable in almost all my software.
In TangentNotes you can not disable the hoover when you are at the top of the list on a folder. It pops up hiding part of the listing it is showing.
I would very much loose the folder name (it is already visible in the treeview on the left and permanently show lens and sorting options. Or make the hidden showing 3 dots or something that you can click to unfold, but not by hoover.
The second one is the CTRL-F in-place search. Ditch the extra menubar that is showing up and moving the whole content down. Instead show always a small looking glass in the right upper corner in the content area and when click show a searchfield without moving the content down. The advantage is the search possiblity is much more clear (as you see the looking glass) and also it works a lot smoother.
Thanks for considering it.
