sudo not handling /etc/environment properly? #401

Here is my

Sudo only supports entries in the "KEY=VALUE" form, it does not support referencing variables on the right hand side. |
Sudo supports the format /etc/environment used by pam_env. The environment.d man page documents what systemd uses, which appears to be different. |

Hi!
I've edited my
/etc/environment
file in order to add my own texlive install to the PATH variable. It contains only one line and looks like this:This is valid configuration format as specified in
man environment.d
, and works perfectly fine logging in as usual. However, running
sudo bash
and thenecho $PATH
returns the followingand I have no access to any programs etc.
Is this a known issue/security limitation?
As an aside, it seems sudo doesn't recognize any
/etc/environment.d/foo.conf
files.Version information:
sudo --version
