I had this same problem, I just not filled an issue because I could not reproduce it on the demo. Seems the database needs to have a lot of items and the location needs to be some levels deep (I don't have sure). Still the problem seems to occur randomly for me, with less items and locations, this problems is less likely to occur. With more items and locations the problem can start to occur always.

The problem seems more likely to occur when I try to open directly a link to a location on a new tab of my browser and then try to edit it. Right now I can reproduce it on my production database but cannot reproduce it on the demo site, If I erase part of my database the error occurs less frequently until not occur anymore if the content of my database has fewer items and locations.
