Calendar shows beginning of year if init'd with dates near December 31 (RANGE mode)

At least while using RANGE mode here, if I initiate the picker with December 24th through 30th (2014), for example, it shows me January 2014 initially. The dates are properly picked 11 months below, but why is it showing me January 2014 instead of December 2014?
