[FEATURE] Check Fake USBs and Formatting for Multi File System on MacOS

Feature description

I would love to see mole support two features:

• Checking removable drives, like USBs for fake size claims, as does f3 on Linux.
• Formatting hard drives and removable media for other file systems (mainly to properly prepare them for installing other OSes

Use case

• f3 doesn't support probing on MacOS. I think probing removable media is critical. DiskUtilities on MacOS can't report reliable info.
• As storage is getting bigger and bigger, there is more real opportunity for installing multiple OSes. Mole support is a great feature to support users who want this. There is a lack of free software tools that support this on MacOS.

Proposed solution

• Each feature is shown as an option, like Mole is currently doing with the installed features.
• Selecting the features presents the options available for that feature.

Thank you for the detailed feature request! The ideas for checking fake USBs (via f3) and formatting drives are definitely useful tools for macOS power users.

However, after careful consideration, we've decided not to include disk formatting and verification features in Mole at this time.

Mole's core philosophy is to be a lightweight, focused tool for cleaning and optimizing the macOS system itself. Adding disk management utilities (like diskutil wrappers or f3 integration) would introduce significant complexity and external dependencies that fall outside the project's main scope.

For these specific needs, we recommend:

Formatting: The built-in macOS Disk Utility or the diskutil CLI are excellent, native solutions.
Fake USB Check: Consider installing f3 directly via Homebrew (brew install f3), which provides the exact functionality you're looking for.
