Response message with single opt-in

Hi,
If you have a list in single opt-in, the confirmation message tells the customer to check his emails, but no emails are sent, which is confusing.
I digged a bit into the code (1.2 from wordpress.org, which seems not to have been uploaded here) and it seems that this setting cannot be retreived from API.
