Duplicate issue workflow #31572

Based on the following comment However, it seems like if there is a duplicate issue, only commenting on the old thread is possible; reopening is not allowed because of permissioning issues. This implies that there is some sort of system to get notified on comments, even if they remain closed and there are 30000+ of them. Is my assumption right? For example, I opened this, according to the protocols, I merely left a comment on an existing issue, without reopening it since I have no permissions. While leaving a comment does seem to bump the thread, it sort of just blends in with all the other closed threads. As an ignorant person who thinks of the issue tab as a to-do list, this workflow seems somewhat confusing and creates potentially easily missable issues. I guess my question is, is my interpretation of the current workflow correct? Do comments on closed issues get enough visibility? |

All volunteers are notified with new comments in old threads. Just comment at the old thread, if the volunteers think the old thread needs to be re-opened, they will re-open. |
